Lux Imperium (formerly SimpleMotion.Lighting) assisted in a comprehensive house lighting upgrade for His Majesty’s Theatre, a 1,205-seat heritage-listed proscenium arch theatre in Perth’s central business district. Opened in 1904, this Edwardian baroque theatre stands as one of Western Australia’s most cherished cultural landmarks.
The project encompassed a full auditorium house lighting replacement with new LED light sources, significantly improving energy efficiency and lighting levels whilst respecting the theatre’s historic character and heritage fittings.
Working directly with electrical contractors Techworks, we programmed and commissioned an ETC Paradigm architectural control system that controlled both the auditorium and front of house foyers.
The Paradigm system featured four touchscreens and four button panels throughout the venue. The system allows for detailed and precises control of lighting across the auditorium and foyer spaces. Integration with production lighting consoles enables touring shows to easily control the house lighting.
The result is an energy-efficient installation that preserves the theatre’s heritage aesthetic while enhancing operational flexibility and creative possibilities for this landmark venue.
